14-Year-Old Charged With Attempted Sex Assaults
By Selena Hernandez
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A 14-year old boy is facing charges of attempted sexual assault after, police say, he broke into two apartments in east Fort Worth.
Police say the boy and his victims all lived at the Park Terrace Apartments on McCurdy.
Officers say the teenager struck twice within one week.
The first time, police say, the boy entered the bedroom of a 15-year-old girl through an open window. The girl was able to fight him off, and he left.
A few days later, police say the teen slipped in through a sliding glass door and inside the unit belonging to a 27-year-old woman. She too was able to fight him off.
Detectives were able to lift fingerprints from both scenes and match them to the 14-year-old suspect. We're told the teen has had previous run-ins with the department, which enabled them to make an arrest.
Detectives "got a confession from the juvenile admitting to both offenses as well as being able to obtain evidence from his residence that linked him to both offenses," said Fort Worth Police Department spokesman Sgt. Pedro Criado.
The suspect's name and details of his criminal history are being with-held because of his age. But he remains in juvenile custody, charged with two counts of burglary of a habitat with the intent to commit sexual assault.
Police don't believe he knew his victims.
