Rowlett Mom Donates Record Amount Of Breast Milk

Nursing Mom Continues To Express Milk After Child's Death

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Kelley Durrant and her family have been through a journey during the past 15 months starting with the birth of twins Ressa and Cameron, who were born 3 1/2 months early.

"Their bodies could pretty much fit in our hands, and their skin was so almost translucent looking," Leo Durrant recalled.

Ressa died from an infection three weeks later.

Her parents remember saying goodbye to their tiny daughter with the determined personality.

"At the moment it was probably one of the hardest things, probably the hardest thing I've ever gone through," he admitted. "But looking back, I don't have any bitterness or really not any sorrow about that day in particular."

This is in part because they have helped so many babies live since they buried their own.

On Saturday, she marked a milestone with her final donation to Mother's Milk Bank of North Texas -- 100 gallons of breast milk.

Committed to the cause of helping other babies who struggle to live, she pumped -- in memory of her daughter -- at work and even while on vacation.

"Hopefully if I can help some other baby so that maybe they can survive or it gives them a little bit of a boost, I'm happy to do that," the giving mother said.

Her donation -- 17 months worth of milk for a baby -- is unprecedented here. These days, the Durrants may finally have a surplus of freezer space, but they hope someday they can give this gift again.

"I enjoy giving, I enjoy volunteering and this is something I've been blessed to do and so I'm happy to share it with others that need it."
