Police sought a vandal who on inauguration day used yellow paint to deface a Houston monument to former President George H.W. Bush.
The paint damage included words referring to "no more Bush."
The damage to a bronze statue of Bush and a stone wall was discovered Tuesday.
The 41st president was in Washington as his son, George W. Bush, ended his term as the nation's 43rd president. Barack Obama became the 44th president.
KTRK-TV in Houston reports police Tuesday afternoon received a call about criminal mischief in progress at the Bush monument. The suspected vandal fled.
Within hours the paint had been removed.
George H.W. Bush and his wife, Barbara, live in Houston.
