It's been a little more than a week and some campers are already cutting their summer fun short.
Some 100 campers are on their way back to the Dallas area after their summer camp experience was cut short due to the H1N1 virus.
The virus, also known as Swine Flu, has been confirmed among two children attending Camp Sabra in Morgan County, Missouri.
Camp Sabra is for kids of the Jewish faith.
Initial reports stated at least 50 campers had symptoms of the virus and about 100 adults also were sick. But health officials say they may never know the extent of the outbreak, because the camp was closed before everyone was tested for the virus.
"As soon as any of our campers had presented the flu-like symptoms, they were immediately isolated," explained Margaret Schatz, a spokesperson for Camp Sabra.
Missouri health officials helped camp personnel coordinate the response to the illness.
Two buses, carrying about 100 campers and adults, are expected to arrive at the Jewish Community Center in Dallas late Monday night. Administrators of the community center say they are not involved with the camp, but the parking lot would be used as a drop-off location.
Camp officials say they first became aware of H1N1 symptoms on Saturday. By Sunday, family members in Dallas say many campers were texting and calling their parents from Missouri to let them know that many people were sick.
Some 350 people, from St. Louis, Kansas City, Texas and Tennessee, were at Camp Sabra when it was closed. The camp plans to disinfect the facilities and hopes to re-open in a week.
