Elderly Cedar Hill Woman Beaten In Home Invasion

Police Label Assault 'Brutal Attack'

(CBS 11 News) Cedar Hill Police said a 78-year-old was assaulted with her cane when someone broke into her home.

Following the home invasion in the 800 block of Rose Hill, police said the suspected robbers took the woman's Chevy Cavalier. Friday afternoon police found the car, but hadn't located the suspects.

Officials say Gloria Martin is in the intensive care unit with severe head trauma.

After the attack the woman was able to call 911 shortly before 5 a.m.  When police arrived, they found Martin so badly beaten, that she had to be flown to an area hospital by medical helicopter.

"She was talking to us and she did give us some information, which we're no gonna disclose right now," said Steve Lafferty with Cedar Hill Police.

Police believe robbery was the motive behind the attack.

When authorities spoke with family members they said that it had been several days since anyone had spoken with Martin.
