About half a dozen passengers were injured when a charter bus from Houston crashed on Interstate 35 at the Marsalis Avenue exit and stopped inches from the edge of the embankment.
Witness said the bus was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop for the light and continued on through the intersection and may have swerved to miss another vehicle. It then crashed into an abandoned gas station building, but bounced off the building and then veered toward the embankment.
Some believe the bus' brakes may have failed.
Officials said there were no skid marks at the scene, which supports the bus driver's story that his brakes may have had problems.
There were 37 people on board at the time of the accident. Reports indicate one person was taken to a hospital.
Preliminary investigation shows the bus is owned and operated by Transportes Los Nortenos, the same Houston company that had a
bus catch fire at the Flying J truck stop on Tuesday in Dallas.
The Dallas Sheriff's Office is still investigating the crash, but will consider calling the National Transportation and Safety Board.
