Security Guard Shot In Dallas Armored Car Robbery

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― Dallas Police say a security guard was shot during an armored car robbery Friday.

It happened shortly before 1 p.m. at the corner of West Illinois and South Westmoreland.

Chopper 11 showed an armored car stopped in the parking lot of a gas station at that location.

Police were searching nearby for two vehicles thought to have been involved in the crime.  Officers on the scene were looking for as many as four suspects.

Hall Elementary School is within a half-mile of the crime scene.  A spokesperson for the Dallas Independent School District told CBS 11 that administrators put the school into "lockdown mode" at 1:15 as a precaution.

The guard who was shot was treated at a local hospital and released.
