Family Of Man Killed In Bank Robbery Attempt Talks
Arezow Doost
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A North Texas family is dealing with raw emotion triggered by grief over the death of a loved one.
Christopher Jones was shot and killed Tuesday during an attempted robbery at a Chase Bank in Dallas.
Jones exchanged gunfire with a security guard and was killed. The guard was not seriously injured.
Dallas police say Jones had been arrested a dozen times for 49 offenses. He had two felony drug cases still pending against him at the time of his death.
Wednesday, Jones' sisters tried to shed some light on what he might have been thinking before the crime.
"He lost it. He went inside the bank. He wasn't the type of person that would go in and shoot someone. He was desperate," said Deaitra Jones, one of his sisters.
The Joneses admit their brother had problems. They think he had no intention of walking out of the bank alive.
"He never harmed anybody. He never harmed anybody. I know when he went into the bank - I know he was not coming out," said Alancia Jones, another one of his sisters.
"He wasn't a monster at all," said Deaitra. "He was just depressed."
His family says they just buried their father last month and Chris was struggling with that.
"My brother robbed a bank. This is what happened. I'm upset because this is a lot," said Deaitra.
