Guilty Plea In Dallas City Hall Corruption Case
DALLAS (AP) ―
A Dallas businessman accused in the Dallas City Hall corruption investigation has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit extortion.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says 44-year-old Kevin J. Dean entered his plea Monday. No sentencing date was immediately set.
Dean faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Documents indicate Dean was president and a principal of Kevin Dean Asphalt Technology Inc., KDAT Developers LLC and Helping Hand Programs Inc.
Dean admitted he provided no services to a developer during the extortion conspiracy.
The indictment charges 14 current and ex-public officials and their associates in a scheme involving low-income housing in the Dallas area. Former councilman Don Hill, developer Brian Potashnik and others are charged.
Prosecutors say seven co-defendants face trial June 22. Three others have pleaded guilty. No trial dates has been set for three other defendants.
