Sheriff Admits Facility May Fail

The Texas Commission on Jail Standards is inspecting the Dallas County Jail this week.
The jail, which has not met state standards in several years, recently lowered the jail population in hopes of meeting state requirements, officials said.
Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez admitted she does not think the jail will pass all phases since it is undergoing renovations of the Central Intake area and is building a new tower.
She hopes, however, it will meet the requirements everywhere else and come into full compliance when construction projects are completed.
