DPD: Officer Injured Trying To Break Up Bar Fight

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― Police are looking for a man who assaulted a Dallas Police officer early Sunday morning.

Police say the patrol officer was trying to break up a fight at the Sugar Shack bar on Lower Greenville just before 2:00 a.m.

Officer Ken Budjenska was able to subdue one man. However during the scuffle, police say another man came up behind the 56-year-old officer and hit him in the head with a beer bottle.

Officer Budjenska was left with a two inch gash to the back of his head.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to a nearby hospital.

Dallas police say they're disappointed that no one in the crowded bar has come forward to identify the man who attacked the officer.
