$100K Missing From Dallas Parking Fees

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― $100,000 in public parking fees has somehow turned up missing in the city of Dallas, and a criminal investigation is now underway.

The money is from the City Arts District garage, near the Meyerson Symphony Center.  It's one of several public parking places for downtown.

The parking garage supervisor has been placed on leave.

Dallas Police Department spokesman Senior Corporal Kevin Janse told CBS 11 News that because the suspect is a city employee, the department's public integrity unit is handling the case.

Police say the money is from a three-month time period beginning in October 2007.

The City Controller's Office discovered the money shortage.  It includes cash and checks.
