Officer Injured In Dallas High Speed Chase

Dallas County Officer's Car Hit By Driver In Pursuit

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― A Dallas County sheriff's officer was injured when another driver hit his patrol car during a high-speed chase Friday morning.

The officer was taken to the hospital with a reported shoulder injury. He is expected to be OK.

The chase itself started about 7:30 a.m. when officers attempted to pull over the truck, but the driver drove away and threw something out the window.

Venturing on highways and maneuvering through residential areas, the chase ended about 8 a.m. at Ledbetter and Millar.

According to reports, the driver hit the officer's squad car at Westmoreland and Red Bird Lane.

The driver, Juan Ledezma, pulled over after a flatten driver's side tire slowed his escape and was taken into custody. 

Officials said Ledezma has a long history of arrests including drug possession, evading arrest, assault in Dallas County dating back to 2003.

Current charges against Ledezma are with felony evading arrest causing severe bodily injury, tampering with evidence and aggragavted assault of a police officer.
