Two DPD Officers Fired After Shooting Inquiry
DALLAS (AP) ―
Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle has fired two officers over their account of a shooting.
Police say an investigation revealed departmental violations and inconsistent or misleading statements from officers Andrew Cortes and Stanley McDaniel.
Kunkle fired the pair in connection with an August shooting outside a tavern. The officers fired several rounds at two men they said attempted to hit them with a truck.
Police said in a statement that Cortes provided inconsistent statements and violated policies for off-duty employment and use of deadly force. Police say McDaniel was also fired for providing inconsistent statements.
Neither Cortes or McDaniel could immediately be reached for comment.
