Multi-City Car Chase Ends In Irving

Suspected Car Thief Climbs Through Sunroof To Escape

by Kaushal Patel
DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― Arlington police say they received a call from OnStar, an in-vehicle safety and security system, around 4:30 p.m. Monday with the report of a stolen car off I-20.

Officers followed the alleged stolen car for a few minutes.

The driver eventually stopped and got out. That's when the passenger went into the driver's seat and sped off.

Police chased the driver through Grand Prairie and into the Kirkwood Park apartments in Irving.

The suspect ran inside an empty apartment there and locked himself away from police. Officers broke down the door and arrested the suspect.

Police removed three black bags from the stolen car. They did not find any weapons.

It is unclear if the first driver is a suspect in the case.
