Dallas Sheriff's Deputy Arrested On Drug Charges

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― A Dallas County Sheriff's deputy is facing federal drug charges today.

Standric Choice, 36, is accused of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

The FBI arrested Choice and two other men Friday, but it wasn't until today that authorities said why.

The arrest warrant affidavit says agents arrested Choice and two other men after an undercover operation Friday.

Authorities say Choice stole 4 kilograms of cocaine from an undercover agent who was posing as a drug dealer.  Choice then allegedly split the stolen drugs with 29-year-old Terry Kemone Anderson and 31-year-old Charlie Lee Hill.

The FBI says Choice admitted the scheme when they arrested him at the Dallas County Sheriff's department Friday afternoon.

Monday, Sheriff Lupe Valdez said, "It is extremely unfortunate that one person chose to ruin his career by making bad choices. I know you understand the acts of one do not reflect the acts of many."

Valdez also said she has stripped Choice of his uniform and badge.  He is on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

All three men are being held without bond.
