ROWLETT (CBS 11 News) ―
In the last two weeks, Rowlett police say there have been five daytime home burglaries in the city. The police department has increased patrols in the areas hit and plan to do so until the suspects are caught.
Police are looking for three people they believe are 16 to 18-years-old. Rowlett police say they are also looking for a white, late-model Acura or Honda with dark windows.
The latest burglary happened Monday in the 5600 block of Cypress Drive in Rowlett.
"I knew with her door standing wide open something was wrong," said a neighbor who did not wish to be identified. "I opened my garage door to come out to get my mail. I noticed 2 black males running out of her house."
The Anderson home was hit on August 5. Jessica Anderson believes her house was hit first.
"I came up to my door to come inside for my lunch," she said. "I tried to open it, and it stopped." When that happened, she knew in her gut something was wrong.
"I heard noise. I don't know if they were maybe running out or what happened, but I didn't see anybody," she said. Anderson went to the back of her house and noticed her door had been kicked in.
"My fridge was open. They took stuff out of my refrigerator," she said. "My pantry was open. Every drawer in my kitchen was open. It was a mess."
The burglars stole autographed boxing memorabilia, their son's video game and a camera with video of their little girl. "That hurts the most - that they took that," she said.
The Andersons estimate more than $6,000 was stolen. They're offering a reward for any tips leading to the suspect's arrests.
"Them just coming in my house, going through my kids stuff, my kid's drawers, their closets
it gives you a sick feeling that someone was in your house and they saw pictures of your children," said Anderson.
