Denton Teacher Accused Of Sex With Teen

A Denton middle school teacher was in jail Wednesday on two charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Lauren Cosgrove, who teaches English at Strickland Middle School, is accused of having sexual relations with a 13-year-old boy she was babysitting.
Police tell CBS 11 News that the boy's siblings saw him kiss Cosgrove while she was babysitting them. The siblings told their parents, who confronted their son. According to police, the boy admitted to his parents that he had had sex with Cosgrove on at least two occasions.
Denton Police say the boy's parents made a complaint to police on June 8.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit Cosgrove admitted having sex with her former student. In the affidavit Cosgrove said she went into the victim's room, performed oral sex on the teen, and the two touched and held each other in the boy's bed.
Last year the alleged 13-year-old victim was one of Cosgrove's English students.
According to the Denton Independent School District, Cosgrove graduated from Baylor University in 2003. The 28-year-old has taught Language Arts at Strickland for the last four years – the only teaching job she's ever held.
Denton ISD issued a statement that said in part – "Denton I.S.D is cooperating fully with the Denton Police Department and their investigation."
Denton ISD policy states that a contract employee may be suspended with pay or placed on administrative leave by the Superintendent during an investigation of alleged misconduct by the employee.
Cosgrove is married and has at least one child of her own. She lives in Southlake.
Authorities say Cosgrove's father posted the $20,000 bond to have her released from the Denton City Jail.
