Service People At DFW Airport React To Shootings
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
As they do almost every day, hundreds of servicemen and women pass through DFW Airport on their way home from deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan, or on their way to their post.
And while the crowds are cheerful in welcoming the soldiers home, Thursday's shooting at Fort Hood is on everyone's mind.
Many waiting for their family members said they were shocked it could happen on an Army post on American soil.
"You don't expect this to happen on our soil, we feel comfortable especially on our military bases" says retired Marine Adolf Pavel.
Some who are returning from a second tour of duty call the shooting cowardly.
"For someone to shoot up Fort Hood, a bunch of soldiers who were doing their job just because they don't want to deploy or for whatever reason is just ridiculous." Says Sgt. Carl Wild, who was wounded while in Afghanistan but returned to finish his tour of duty there.
One thing all military personnel that passed through the airport did say is that they all share this tragedy as a family.
