Dallas Police Call Man's Disappearance Suspicious

DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Dallas police are asking for the public's help in finding an elderly man. They say they have grave concerns about his wellbeing.

George Stephenson is a White, 69-year-old male. He is described as being 5' 8" and weighing 180 pounds with gray hair and hazel eyes.

He was last seen around 7 a.m. Tuesday at his home on the 4100 block of Bowser Avenue in Dallas. Police say the retiree is well-known and well-liked in his Oak Lawn neighborhood.

His black, 2002 four-door Lexus is also missing. Police say they fear he's been the victim of foul play, and whoever is responsible may be driving his car. The car has a license plate number of 985-NHY.

Stephenson has been a recognized counselor for Alcoholics Anonymous for 24 years, and he never misses appointments.

Police say he has a fraud alert activated on his credit card, and that also concerns police.

"We're very concerned, as a police department, for this individual," said Dallas Police Lt. Craig Miller. "There's information we've learned since his disappearance that makes us fear he could be in harm's way."

According to police, Stephenson left his dog home alone, which is also something he would never do.

Anyone with information concerning Stephenson's whereabouts is asked to call the Dallas Police Missing Persons or the Crimes Against Persons Unit at (214) 671-3661.
