Elderly Woman Attacked After Grocery Store Visit
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
An elderly woman arrived home from the grocery store only to be attacked and robbed.
The attack happened after the 90-year-old woman visited an Albertson's Grocery Store at E. Loop 820 and Bridge Street. What the woman didn't realize as she drove away is that someone was following right behind her. Neighbors describe Mary Dorman as normally being feisty. But after what happened Sunday afternoon, she's pretty shaken up.
Dorman didn't want to talk on camera, but told CBS 11 News that she's afraid her attacker will return to her east home in the 1500 block of Azteca.
Dorman was roughed up during the home invasion, which happened in broad daylight. At the time Dorman refused medical attention, but had to see a doctor Monday.
The attacker allegedly followed Dorman into her garage, yanked her out of the car and pushed her into chair.
After the attack she told neighbors what the, lone female, attacker did to her and what the woman demanded.
Neighbor Joann Moody detailed the attack as Dorman described it. "She just kept saying, 'I know you have money. I saw you,'" Moody explained. "She said, 'I followed you from the store.'"
According to Dorman, the attacker even yanked the rings off her fingers. The robber, who wore socks on her hands to keep from leaving fingerprints, also took Dorman's driver's license and social security card.
Workers at the Albertson's are looking to see if they have surveillance video of the two. Police are hoping the tape will help them identify the suspect.
