Dallas Police: Elderly Couple Attacked, Robbed

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― A brutal attack sent an 86-year-old northwest Dallas man to the hospital after he and his wife were mugged in their driveway.

Carl Petty and his wife were almost home from church around 2:30 p.m. Sunday when a truck pulled up behind them.

According to police, here's what happened: One or two men jumped out and grabbed Gerry Petty's purse from her hand. That's when her husband fought with one of the suspects and was thrown to the ground.

Carl suffered a head injury and possible broken bones. He was taken to Medical City Hospital.

Police are still searching for his attacker(s).
