Denton Police Search For Fake Massage Student
Melissa Newton
DENTON (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
Denton Police are looking for a man who they say is posing as a massage therapy student and assaulting women.
Investigators know of at least one victim, but they're afraid there could be more.
The 21-year-old Denton woman does not want to be identified, but she's speaking out, so other women will be aware of what happened.
"I think I was just so much in shock that I kind of didn't know what to do. I've never been in a situation like that." She said.
When a young man came to her apartment Monday afternoon claiming to be a massage therapy student she let him in.
"He just said he was going around practicing on different people, logging hours for credit," she explained. "Looking back on it I, feel so stupid."
The woman allowed the man to massage her on the couch, but says she immediately had doubts.
"In the beginning he didn't want me to have any clothes on, but I told him I didn't feel comfortable," she said, "so I asked if I can have shorts and a tank top, he said that was fine."
"The massage kind of went a little too far in an instant" says Denton Police Officer Ryan Grelle. "She wanted him out."
The woman says the man insisted she take her shirt off, which she eventually did.
"He was like, 'you have an amazing body. Can I take you out sometime?'"
While she says the man didn't harm her, she's afraid he could come back, or do the same thing to someone else.
"I didn't know what he was going to do, I didn't know what he was going to try," she explained. "I consider myself really lucky getting out."
"If there are victims we hope that they see this and call us and let us know, 'Yes, this guy came to my door also.'" Grelle said.
Police do not have any suspects.
At this time, the only charge the man could face is misdemeanor assault, because the young woman willingly let him in and allowed the massage.
