Fake Cop Roaming NRH, Woman Says

(CBS 11 / TXA 21) Drivers in North Richland Hills are on alert after a woman told  police she was pulled over on Wednesday morning by a man she thought was a police officer.

She said he didn't touch her, but when he took her license, he wrote down her personal information and began asking her a series of inappropriate questions, she said

According to reports, he drove a white four-door car with a North Richland Hills or Richland Hills logo on the right passenger door. The car had red and blue lights on the front grill.

Police said women are particularly vulnerable to police imposters.

Real officials stress drivers should pull into a lighted area or public place.

"If you have any questions when they approach you, once we head back to our car, call 9-1-1," officer Edgar Vidal with the North Richland Hills Police Department.

He added if real policeman tries to stop a driver and the driver does not stop, "you're going to get in trouble."

"If I didn't really think that he was a police officer, I would probably drive off as fast as I could, and probably call 9-1-1," once NRH resident, Pam McMillen, said.
