Calloway's Nursery Offers Options To Brighten Landscapes

FORT WORTH (Calloway's Nursery) ―

With the weather cooling off, entertaining and recreation starts to move from the inside to outside.

Now is the perfect time to liven up a sun-baked landscape or patio containers with the fresh festive colors of fall.

In North Texas, there are many plant options to spruce up outdoor spaces and some of the options are quite interesting and unusual.

John Peters, vice president of Calloway's Nursery, details some of the best Fall options.

John will share some the most popular and also some unique Fall plant options that work great in the North Texas region.

FALL COLOR

Ornamental Peppers – Loaded with bright little mini-peppers, these plants are attention grabbers.  Most people use these in pots outside or as center pieces during football parties, but they work great in the garden, too.  They take part sun or shade but generally, the more sun the better.  These peppers give a nice color throughout the season.

They also can be grown inside if placed near a very sunny window.

Chrysanthemum and Mum – These come in a variety of fall colors and in a wide variety of sizes to fit any garden or container.  The Chrysanthemum  and the Mum are traditionally fall color favorites.  You can't go wrong with these, they are hardy, easy to grow and maintain and they provide a spectacular show of color in the fall.  Both are perennial so they come back every year and will bloom in the fall for 6 to 8 weeks.  The Chrysanthemum and Mum do well in sun or part sun.

Celosia – These look great in landscapes and containers.  They take full to part sun and they continuously bloom through the fall.

Petunia – These look great in containers or pots.  They take full to part sun and they continuously bloom through the fall.

Plectranthus also called Mona Lavender – this dark purple foliage showcase iridescent purple flowers that bloom repeatedly through the fall.  These do well in full sun.

Fall foliage :  There is a multitude of foliage plants to choose.

Crotons – Crotons come in a multitude of shapes and fall colors.  These plants offer a variety of leaf sizes and colors. The vivid foliage color is the main attraction.  These enjoy full sun or part sun and make a colorful foliage presentation throughout the fall.
