Grapevine Pastor Encourages More Sex
By Marianne Martinez
GRAPEVINE (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A North Texas pastor is challenging his congregation. The topic may make some people uncomfortable.
It's sex.
The pastor of
Fellowship Church in Grapevine is encouraging all the married couples in the congregation to have sex every day for a week.
It's a popular idea with some Christians. Others have reservations.
"The title of my talk is 'Seven Days of Sex'," Ed Young told his congregation.
The pastor says it will help married couples communicate better, focus more attention on their marriage and might identify some problems.
"God invented sex," Young said, "so we should be the ones talking about it. We've allowed culture to hijack sex from us and we have not talked about it openly."
Young's wife, Lisa, says failing to talk about it can lead to marital problems.
"That is the pitfall of marriage," she said. "You give all of your energy to different entities and the last is saved for marriage."
Some Christians applaud the idea.
Liz Hendricks, who owns Holy Grounds Christian Store, puts it this way: "Its God's biggest gift to a married couple--to be able to have sex."
But not everybody sees it that way.
Janie McCoy says she's a Christian. "I think it's private and personal. What goes on behind a marriage's bedroom door is marriage business."
