Still No Motive In Ferris Double Murder

FERRIS Friends and family are trying to deal with what happened inside a Ferris house where a couple was found dead yesterday.

Meanwhile, police in the Ellis County town say they are still trying to figure out a motive for the murders.

Friends and family of Janine Johnson and Steven Taylor say they can't understand why the couple was killed.

Janine's mother says the couple was fun-loving and had lots of friends. Janine was also a mother to a 12-year-old boy.

"They seemed to really love each other," said Janine's mother, Diana Johnson.  "For someone to come in and do this - it's just unforgiveable."

The couple was found dead in their bedroom yesterday.  A family member hadn't seen Taylor for some time and went to the home.  Police say the couple had been cut several times and they were probably attacked while they were sleeping.

There were no signs of forced entry into the home and nothing was stolen.

"I believe it was someone who knew them," said Ferris Police Investigator Sam Love. I don't believe this was a random act."

And while family members look for answers, they hope anyone who has information about the murders comes forward.

Ferris police say the evidence found at the scene is being analyzed and they hope to get more clues from that.  Police also say they don't believe the crime was drug-related.
