Warehouse Fire Erupts In Hutchins
HUTCHINS (CBS 11 News) ―
Explosions sent huge fireballs and thick, black smoke into the sky Saturday night, as fire tore through a propane distribution warehouse.
The blasts were first reported at about 10 p.m. at the Ferrell Gas facility on 1828 Carpenter Road, near Interstate 45 and Wintergreen Road. Emergency dispatchers said several 911 callers reported the explosions.
Flames tore through the warehouse and a nearby beauty supply building and halfway house, officials said. As of 11:45 p.m., no injuries were reported.
Chopper 11 recorded video of huge fireballs soaring as much as 100 feet into the air as the fire continued to burn late into the night.
Firefighters from around Dallas County were paged to respond to the fire.
The fire prompted closures of Wintergreen at Carpenter roads.
Emergency officials had not announced any evacuations of nearby homes.
