Cops: Arlington School's Playground Set On Fire

ARLINGTON (CBS 11 News) ― A couple of weeks before the first day of school, police say someone set fire to the Anderson Elementary playground in Arlington.

"We want it to be exciting when the students return, and this puts a damper on that," said Kyle Bunker, the school's principle.

Administrators noticed the equipment on fire around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. They were inside the school preparing for the start of the new school year.

"We're spending so much time getting ready for school, and it just give us one more thing that we didn't really need to deal with," Bunker said. "We need to pony-up and get ready and see what we need to do to fix the problem."

The fire is being investigated as arson by the Arlington Fire Department.

Administrators believe they may have surveillance video of the incident.

Anyone with information about who set the playground on fire should call local authorities.
