Ex-Grapevine Officer Suspected Of Fondling Teen
By Marianne Martinez
ROANOKE (CBS 11 News) ―
A former Grapevine police officer is under investigation for allegedly fondling a teen-age girl and serving her alcohol. The officer, who has not been charged, voluntarily resigned in August after the allegations were made.
The alleged incident happened over the summer at the officer's house in Roanoke, while he was off-duty.
The affidavit says the suspect's 14-year-old daughter invited a 14-year-old friend to a sleep-over in July.
According to the affidavit, the girl told police the suspect "had offered her Shiner Bock beer and Captain Morgan rum with juice" and that she became drunk.
The affidavit also says the suspect's "hand was still inside her tank top and inside her bra as he began rubbing her breast."
The former officer is 47 years old and a seven-year veteran of the force. CBS 11 News is not releasing his name because he has not been charged in this case.
Grapevine Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Smith said the department is conducting an internal investigation.
"The department has taken an emotional hit," Smith said. "But the public perception is what we battle and we want it known that we have high integrity, high morals and high standards."
When we went to the house where the alleged incident took place, the woman inside said the former officer does not live there and that she had just moved in. And neighbors told us they hadn't seen the suspect in weeks.
Roanoke police also say they are waiting for results of forensic testing on the suspect's computer. There are allegations he exposed minors to pornography on his computer.
