FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A man damaged at about a dozen vehicles in a small Fort Worth car small lot before he took off and led police on a chase through the city.
It started at a Fort Worth convenience store at 28th and Sylvania where police said the man stole $93 in gas.
According to reports, he tried to initiate a political debate with the clerk and then ransacked the store.
"He started throwing stuff on the counter, he started breaking the windows," explained the clerk Gahad Al-Haweel.
The employee said he knew the man and called him a regular customer for several years.
"He surprised me. He never acted that way."
The man then went to a car lot where owner Jamie Munoz said he took a truck for a test drive and then offered to buy it with a personal check.
When Munoz said 'no,' he said the man punched him. The man chased after Munoz and then used the truck to ram into other cars on the lot.
"He hit 10 or 13 vehicles on my car lot and he wanted to kill me," Munoz said.
The man got into his own vehicle drove around Loop 820 and ended up downtown, where he was eventually pulled over and was arrested.
The car lot owner said he has insurance to cover some damage, but not all.
Police continued their investigation to figure out the man's motive and to determine what charges he could face.
