Rain Ending, But Problems Continue
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
The rain has stopped falling across most of North Texas, but it's still causing problems.
Ice is forming in some areas and a few thousand people are without power.
Oncor Electric Delivery said as of 4:30 p.m, about 39,000 North Texas customers didn't have power because of the weather. The company said most of the outages were east of Highway 360.
Ice could be seen forming on street signs, trees and power lines in some areas.
Some schools canceled afternoon and evening classes because of the weather. (Click here for school closings.)
Cold Canadian air will continue to ooze into the area, on a light north wind, keeping most of North Texas near freezing through 5 pm and then temperatures are expected to begin to slowly warm through the night.
3-7pm
The rain and freezing rain taper off as temperatures hold between 32 and 35.
Could still be some icy spots on a few bridges and overpasses north near the Red River and many roadways still just wet as patchy rain continues in the metro area.
Expect all rain south and east.
Light north/northeast winds.
