Sex Offender Told To Live Near Frisco School

FRISCO (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― The Frisco ISD is sending letters home to parents reminding them of how to find information on registered sex offenders in the area after a Houston judge told a registered sex offender to live across the street from an elementary school. Rep. Ken Paxton says he'd like to read the Harris County Judge's order.

Parents and residents who live near Gunstream Elementary also want to talk to the judge.

So far, there's been no response from that Harris County Judge.

"Maybe there's something they can argue about state law," the congressman ponders. "Maybe there's some kind of lawsuit they can file based on a violation of state law, I don't know."

Paxton adds that even if the house in question is more than 100 feet away,  the order is "bad judgment" at best.

Texas state law  requires a 1,000- foot buffer zone between where registered sex offenders live and their location to schools.
