Police Kill Woman With Gun In FW Park

Woman Was Writing Suicide Note, Shot Herseld, Then Aimed Gun At Cops, They Say

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ― Police shot and killed a woman late Wednesday night in a Fort Worth park after the woman aimed her gun at officers.

According to reports, a pair of officers found the woman sitting in her car "obviously troubled about something."

One of the officers approached the driver's side window while the other approached from the other side, police said.

When one of the officers reached and placed his hand on the woman's shoulder to see if she was okay, she leaned back and she them she had a gun.

The officer stepped back and then watched as the woman put the gun to the side of her head and pull the trigger.

She shot herself once, but did not die, officials said.

The woman then aimed the gun at the officers and one of them shot her twice in the chest.

Investigators said the woman was slumped over the steering wheel writing a note that indicated she wanted to end her life and the officers' presence prompted her to shoot herself then.

The Medical Examiner's Office has not released her identity.

The officers weren't injured.
