Man Recovering From Coma Beaten, Stabbed

Reporting

GARLAND (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
First a 20-year-old North Texas man was in a car accident that killed his mother and left him with brain damage.
Then a year later he was beaten, stabbed and robbed.
Now police in Garland are asking for your help. They're hoping you can help find the men who attacked him, and let him focus on his recovery.
Just before high school graduation last year, James Myers suffered extensive brain injuries. "I've made it through some pretty difficult stuff."
His mother was behind the wheel when a semi slammed into their car after it had hydroplaned.
Myers was in a coma for two months. And when he woke up, he realized his mother didn't survive. "She always had me laughing."
Then two months ago, Myers suffered another set-back.
Garland police say two men, only identified on surveillance video followed Myers into a convenience store, then lured him to what he thought was a party at a nearby house.
When they arrived, Myers says this man suddenly stabbed him five times in the elbow, thigh, and leg, then hit him in the head with a baseball bat five times.
"Once I was on the ground on my knees, he hit me with the butt of the bat in the head."
They got away with his wallet and iPhone. He somehow got back in his truck, and drove to his girlfriend's house, all while trying to ignore the agonizing pain. "Yeah, i put that to the side, pain, I'll get with you later."
His father, James Myers Sr. says "it's a miracle. He's got a mission here on the planet to do something great. He amazes me every day."
Myers says he doesn't remember the location of the house where he was attacked, but he, his family, and police are hoping the surveillance video will lead to the suspects' arrests.
Myers says "I don't want them to hurt other people."
If you know who the suspects are, you're asked to call Garland crime stoppers at (972) 272-8477.
The organization will offer a cash reward to anyone who comes forward with information that results in the suspects' arrests.
