One Arrested In Murder Of Missing Fort Worth Woman

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― Fort Worth Police have arrested a man in connection with the disappearance of Glenda Gail Furch.

Furch has not been seen since she left her job at Arlington's General Motors plant on September 28.

Police say they are going to charge 40-year-old Rodney Eugene Owens with Furch's murder. When officers arrested Owens he was already in jail on other charges, but now police say it turns out those charges are related to Furch's disappearance.

Not long after Furch vanished, police searched her east Fort Worth apartment. They say they found evidence that the apartment had been cleaned extensively, but the cleaning supplies were missing.

Officers say they searched a dumpster outside Furch's apartment and found the missing cleaning supplies and several items that belonged to Furch. Police also say they found a wadded-up ball of duct tape in the dumpster, and there was a thumbprint on that tape.

Furch's car was also missing from her apartment complex. It was later found burned at an abandoned car wash in Dallas.

One month after Furch disappeared, Fort Worth Police arrested Rodney Owens. They say he led officers on a chase while driving a stolen car on October 28. Owens eventually crashed the car and police arrested him. Inside that stolen car were several items police now say are related to Furch's disappearance.

And now, police say they have a match on the thumbprint they got from that duct tape found in Glenda Furch's dumpster. They say it belongs to Rodney Owens, who is already in jail on charges stemming from the car chase in October.

Furch's body still has not been recovered, but police say they have enough evidence to charge Owens with her murder.

If you have any information about the location of Glenda Gail Furch's body, Fort Worth Police ask that you call them at 817.392.4330. Crime Stoppers is offering a $1000 reward for information that leads to the recovery of Furch's body.
