Arlington Woman Indicted For Hate Crimes

ARLINGTON (AP) ― A Tarrant County grand jury has indicted a woman accused of hitting another woman in the face with a board in Arlington in December.

Grace Edith Head, who was indicted Wednesday, faces a first-degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a criminal mischief charge.

Since the charges were submitted to the grand jury as hate crimes, the 66-year-old faces up to life in prison if convicted. She remains free on $25,000 bail.

Head, who is white, is accused of hitting Kay Silk Littlejohn, who is black, in the head with a 2-by-4 on Dec. 19 during a dispute on Littlejohn's property.

Days after the assault, someone vandalized Littlejohn's house with racial slurs.

Head's attorney Bruce Ashworth has said he will not comment on the case.
