Cleburne Police Investigate Alleged Animal Cruelty

FEATURED SLIDESHOW: Plight Of Rescued Exotic Animals

CLEBURNE (CBS 11 News) ― Cleburne police are investigating what they are calling a case of animal cruelty.

Police say this morning they got a call from someone who said that several emaciated horses were in a field near the Cleburne city limits.

Cleburne Animal Control officers went to the location and say they found two dead horses and three others that were emaciated.

Chopper 11 also went to the scene and saw the three live horses. All three had visible ribs and hip bones. We also saw one dead horse in the field.

Police say there was no grass, hay or feed visible in the three-acre field.

Police say the horses' owner, Michael Greenslade, has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty. According to police, Greenslade lives in a house on the property.

Cleburne police contacted the Humane Society of North Texas to take possession of the three surviving horses.
