Trial Begins Today In Hurst Putt-Putt Murder

Prosecutors Seek Death Penalty In Employee Slaying

HURST (CBS 11 News) ― A former employee of an amusement center is expected to go on trial today for the murder of an assistant manager.

Paul Storey is accused of shooting and killing Jonas Cherry in October of 2006.

Cherry's body was found in the main building Putt-Putt Fun Center at Loop 820 and Highway 183 in Hurst, near Northeast Mall on the morning of Oct. 16. His family said Jonas had worked at the venue for more than a decade.

Storey also is accused of stealing money from the safe.

He is charged with capital murder and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

Another person was arrested about a week after Cherry's body was found. Mark Porter, who also was charged with capital murder, is scheduled to go on trial next month.
