Debris Falls From Texas' Tallest Building Post-Ike

HOUSTON (AP) ― Hours after Hurricane Ike's eye passed over Houston, debris continues to fall from the Chase Tower, the tallest building in Texas.

Police have cordoned off the streets around the downtown Houston building as glass, insulation, furniture and computers continue to fall out of the windows of the 75-story, 1,002-foot structure.

Witnesses described seeing glass flying horizontally down the streets of Houston as the windows starting blowing out in the building at around 3 a.m.

"I was watching furniture come out of the 20th floor of Chase," said David Foreman, director of operations for the Sambuca restaurants, describing something that sounded like "a bunch of beer bottles being broken by a bunch of people at the same time."
