FWPD: Dad Who Killed Family Had Incestuous Secret
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A newly released police report into
a double murder/suicide in early August reveals the father who killed his wife and 14-year-old daughter had an incestuous secret.
Fourteen-year-old Mailene Vece and her 36-year-old mother Eliana Vece were found shot to death in their Fort Worth home. James Vece, Mailene's 44-year-old father, had apparently shot himself after committing the murders.
Police searching the Vece home found a locked spare bedroom. Reports state inside they found a large collection of pornography and several computers attached to remote cameras.
The report states, "One of the computers was set up to record from another camera that was obviously secreted somewhere in Mailene's bedroom."
Police believe James Vece had set up a camera to watch his daughter Mailene undress.
"James Vece had an obsession with his... daughter who was in early puberty," the investigator concludes.
Here's what the investigating officer believes happened: "Eliana probably interrupted James (sexually assaulting) Mailene," the report reads. "While they were arguing Mailene got partially dressed and she and Eliana started packing."
"James Vece shot his wife and daughter to prevent them leaving or calling police," the report continued.
Neighbors declined on-camera interviews, but say the Vece's were very withdrawn and did not wave or say hello to neighbors as they passed by. While neighbors found the behavior odd, they say they never could have imagined what was going on in the home.
