Wedding Bells Ring In Central Texas

CRAWFORD (CBS 11/AP) ― All day long, the restaurants, shops and the parking lots were packed and everyone seemed giddy about the wedding between Jenna Bush and Henry Hager.

Some people drove merely 200 miles while others  visited from Florida.

Tourists and came joined each other in town as the Bush Family celebrated at what some have called the Western White House.

Although media was not invited to the wedding or allowed near the entrance to the property, it was reported the couple exchanged vows at a cross, made of beige colored Texas limestone that was erected near the ranch's man-made lake.

lake. The cross and altar, made of the same stone used to construct the Bush's ranch house, will be a landmark at the ranch for years to come.

Even though they were not invited to the nuptials, tourist Angela Johnson said being in Crawford on this day was historic.

"I brought my kids so they could be in the same town as two presidents at one time."

The Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell of Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston officiated.

More than 200 family and friends converged on the 1,600-acre ranch that was hit by a brief storm that packed winds up to 50 mph and dropped nickel-sized hail on the area. The White House said the storm did not cause any damage at the ranch where a tent has been erected for post-ceremony dinner and dancing.

Earlier in the day, tourists were treated to free wedding cake at a Crawford gift shop that also sold souvenirs with photos of the happy couple on them as a local navigated his riding lawnmower down the street.

Local entrepreneurs also made sure tourists enjoyed the same type of BBQ lunch that the ranch visitors enjoyed at a pre-ceremony meal provided by the groom's family.

The president and the bride picked "You Are So Beautiful" for their father-daughter dance, according to band leader Tyrone Smith of Nashville, Tenn. Smith and his 10-piece party band, The Tyrone Smith Revue, was asked to do "Lovin' in My Baby's Eyes" by Taj Mahal for the newlyweds' first dance. Smith, who promised the couple a "get down" party, talked to The Associated Press earlier in the week on condition that the information not be released before the wedding.

White House officials said an official of the couple would be released on Sunday.
