Fight Between Neighbors In Keller Leads To Gunfire

Selena Hernandez
KELLER (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― A Keller man remains hospitalized in serious condition after police say he was shot in the stomach following a reported dispute with his neighbor. The crime happened on the 13-hundred block of Robin Court, in northeast Keller early Sunday Morning.

"When I walked outside, there were three trucks here, loads of policemen," Patty Stueber said of the commotion that unfolded outside her street early Sunday morning.

The flurry of flashing police lights was an unnerving sight for Stueber and others on Robin Court.

"I'm stunned. This is a very quiet neighborhood we never have anything like this going on here. There's so much activity going on here – we knew something big had happened."

Police say what started as a party, ended with violent gunfire and left a community rattled.

"We saw there was about nine police cars out here and they had about 7-8 suspects on the picket fence on the opposite side of the road here," Gene Rushing said from his perspective on the other side of the crime scene on Ottinger Road.

We're told the victim, identified as Ryan Froh, was having a get together at his home on Ottinger Road, when his backyard neighbor, whom we're told is Edward Stewart, approached Froh, asking him to keep down the noise and to quiet his dogs.

"He's got a couple of labs, which are docile, easy going dogs. He's never had problems with them. I've never heard them bark," Rushing recounts.

Police say an argument erupted between the men and as Froh jumped the fence to confront Stewart, police say Stewart shot Froh. Partygoers also told Keller police they too were threatened by Stewart. Froh was taken by air ambulance to JPS Hospital with a gunshot wound to his stomach.

"We're just hopeful our neighbor will regain his health and get back," Rushing said.

Neighbors on both streets where the men live say it's a crime uncharacteristic of their community and of the men they know.

"I am fantastically shocked! We know Ed and he's a quiet man," Stueber said.

"It's a nice town we're happy to live here – but you never know when things like that will pop up."

Police say Stewart's wife was also hit in the leg by a bullet. Her injuries are not serious. Meanwhile, the gunman faces several charges including attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
