Dallas County Sheriff's Dept.
A Dallas man is behind bars today, accused of hanging two children upside down in a closet.
The incident happened Wednesday evening at a duplex in the 3700 block of High Vista Drive. Police say it started with a domestic argument between 23-year-old Dante Tyler and 21-year old Shequintearria Tinnon. During the argument, police say, Tyler assaulted Tinnon and then handcuffed her two children, ages 1 and 3, at the ankles and used a chain to hang the children upside down in a closet.
Tinnon ran outside of the home, but officers say she was able to get back inside to free her children.
Dallas police say Tyler barricaded himself in the home for about three hours before surrendering to police. Police deployed an entire tactical team because it was initially reported that Tyler had a gun.
It turned out he was not armed. He is in jail now, charged with endangering a child.
Police say both children are fine today. Police returned them to their mother.
