CPS Files For Custody Of Boys Thrown Off Bridge

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ―

Child Protective Services has filed for custody of the two brothers who were thrown from a Dallas overpass earlier this week, a spokeswoman said Friday.

Police say 8- and 6-year-old brothers were thrown from the overpass by their mother, 27-year-old Khandi Busby early Wednesday morning.  Police say after throwing the boys from the bridge, Busby jumped herself.

All three survived the 22-foot drop.  Both boys were taken to Children's Medical Center in Dallas.  The younger boy was released late last night.  The older boy is still in critical but stable condition at Children's, according to CPS.

CPS says if a judge grants the agency custody, the boys will go into foster care for the immediate future.  Family members say they are also trying to get custody.

Busby is charged with two counts of attempted murder.  She is still hospitalized.
