Pot Plants Discovered Along Popular Jogging Trail
DALLAS (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
A shocking discovery was made along a popular jogging and bike trail in Dallas.
A city worker noticed a sizable amount of marijuana that had been growing for months.
The discovery was along a trail near the intersection of Walnut Hill and Fair Avenue. The trail runs from I-635 all the way to White Rock Lake and hardly a moment goes by when someone isn't biking, walking or jogging.
The city worker found 27 marijuana plants Thursday afternoon. Police say the stalks were seven-feet tall and well cared for by whoever planted them.
Officers pulled them up, but may have a hard time finding the person responsible.
"Fortunately, we were able to get these marijuana plants just before they should have been harvested - just before they could get them on the street and sell them," said Sr. Dallas Cpl. Janice Crowther.
Police say the pot had a street value of $2,700.
Police plan to return to the scene, looking for clues and asking questions in an effort to solve this case.
