North Texas Marine Accused Of Saginaw Murder

SAGINAW (CBS 11 News) ―

A North Texas marine is behind bars. Eric Acevedo, who served in Iraq after high school, is accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend.

Police say the attack happened after the 22-year-old marine broke into the townhouse of Molly Worden.

"Her daughter was her life and now she does not have her mother," said Molly's sister, Tammy Worden.

The family of Molly Worden struggles with the brutal murder of a young woman who meant so much, to so many. "She was very outgoing, very vivacious, she was beautiful, she worked hard," Tammy Worden told CBS 11 News. "Anybody that met her loved her. She lit up a room when she walked in."

Molly Worden, a 32-year-old single mother, was murdered in her Saginaw home early Saturday morning. Police say she was beaten and stabbed.

Acevedo, a former live-in boyfriend of Molly Worden, now faces a charge of capital murder. Police say Acevedo broke into Wordens' townhouse following an argument. Molly Worden's 10-year-old daughter, Renee, was not home at the time.

Acevedo is a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and served three tours of duty in Iraq. He is now on non-active duty.

According to the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Acevedo's father says Eric suffers from post traumatic stress disorder.

"Anybody that could do this could not have cared about Molly or her daughter," says Tammy. "I don't know how this could have happened."

Acevedo is being held on a one million dollar bond and according to Saginaw police will be transferred to the Tarrant County Jail Tuesday evening.
