Ghost Seems To Make Appearance On Local Movie Set

GAINESVILLE (CBS 11 News) ―
Some members of a local movie production think they may have seen a ghost.
The spooky sighting happened in a Gainesville house where the romantic comedy "The Significant Other" was filmed.
"I'm combing the monitor for little things that we don't want, and I look and I see this face," said Shalene Portman, who wrote, produced and directed the film.
"I couldn't believe it. I said, 'A ghost!' And they said, 'Yes, there's a ghost in the mirror,'" said actress Theresa Railsback.
Over the years, people have reported strange mishaps and sightings.
The house was built in 1896 and used to provide shelter for World War II soldiers. Shalene said they were shooting some of the final scenes over Labor Day weekend when they saw the image in the mirror.
"I think that there are bits and pieces of people that remain in places," said actress Sammie Portman. "Occasionally we catch glimpses of them."
The image they point to is difficult to identify, but if you

"You don't immediately think, "Ghost." I just thought, 'There's a face in the shot.' Well, whose face is it?" said Shalene. "By the end of the take we're all freaking out, because the face didn't belong to anybody in the house."
Shalene said she is now haunted by what she doesn't know.
"I don't want to say that I actually believe in it, because it just goes against a lot of the things that you're raised to believe," said Shalene. "But at the same time, I know they have to be there."
She said that despite her efforts, the image hasn't returned since the September shoot. "We've shined lights on the mirror and tried to recreate, and it's not there," said Shalene.
Some believers say it never again will be in the mirror.
"I think the circumstances have to be exactly right for you to catch a glimpse," said Sammie. "I don't think he's coming back."
"It's just kind of hard to believe that you bumped into a ghost. It's just not something you do everyday," said Shalene.
The original shot where the ghost appears on film will be used in the movie. The movie will be ready for release in January.
