Mobile Home Park Residents Forced Off Property
ARLINGTON (CBS 11 News) ―
Big changes are coming to the area around the new Cowboys stadium in Arlington.
For some mobile home park residents, that means moving day is getting closer. Residents at Stonegate Pines have until November 16 to be off the property.
"They sent us a letter telling us that we had 60 or 45 days to move," said homeowner Denise Sanders.
The 14-acre property sits between the new Cowboy's stadium and the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The land was purchased by Texas Rangers owner Tom Hicks and will be demolished to make way for new development.
Some of the residents have already moved. Others have simply abandoned their mobile home on the property.
Since it is a private project, homeowners are not getting any financial help for their move.
"They took the money for people that own apartments and gave them $5,000 to move out," said Sanders. "They gave us nothing, and we have homes."
Hick's holding company has been quoted as saying that while it's not sure what it's going develop, but the plans don't call for a mobile home park.
