Cloudy skies and cool temperatures will remain on Monday. A cold front pulled through the area overnight and brought with it strong thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. One to four inches of rain fell over most of North Texas. The heaviest rainfall amounts were in northern Denton County and northern Collin County, as well as Hunt County, where some areas picked up three or four inches!
More flooding is possible as showers move in from the west and southwest. A slow-moving upper level low pressure system is spinning over New Mexico and pushing east.
The vast majority of North Texas will see off-and-on showers Monday, but not as heavy as what came through Sunday night. Additional flash flooding problems are not expected, except possibly in our far southern and eastern counties. There are still residual flooding problems for the folks hit Sunday night, and that could continue for the next several hours.
We could see an additional one to two inches of rain during Monday.
Look for a high temperature near 58 degrees. Overall rain chances are
near 70 percent.
A Flash Flood Watch remains in place for Navarro County, Henderson County and Anderson County until 7 p.m. Monday evening. An earlier Flash Flood Watch for the rest of the DFW Metro area has been canceled.
The off-and-on showers will continue Monday night as the upper low moves overhead. The chances of rain are around 40 percent.
Showers should taper off by mid-morning Tuesday, leaving us with more sunshine by the afternoon hours. Expect a warmer day on Tuesday with a high temperature near 65 degrees!
More showers and storms are in our forecast later this week and probably more flooding, unfortunately.
